I am Katy Goodman from La Sera! I live in LA, have a dog and a cat, and love coffee.
Where did the name La Sera originate from?
I came up with it while I was on tour with Vivian Girls in Italy. It means “the evening” in Italian.
How would you describe your music in La Sera versus in Vivian Girls?
I would say the main difference is that I am the lead singer/songwriter of La Sera, so these are more “my” songs.
What are you coming out with next?
We just put out a new record in May, Hour of the Dawn, and we spent a lot of time on it! But we are going to start working on a new album at some point this year…

If you’re still reeling from Vivian Girls’ breakup this year, here’s some good news: frontwoman Cassie Ramone, also of the Babies, will release her debut album this summer. The Time Has Come is out August 26 via Loglady. That’s album cut “Hangin On” above.
Ramone recorded the LP in various apartments in New York and Los Angeles. Ariel Pink plays bass on several of the album’s tracks. Pink wrote this press release bio:
“This is Cassie’s first record. She used to sing and play guitar in Vivian Girls. She recorded these songs by herself over the last year or so. She hopes you like the record. Goodbye.”

“this is Cassie’s first record. she used to sing and play guitar in the vivian girls. she recorded these songs by herself over the last year or so. she hopes you like the record. goodbye.” – Ariel Pink
The debut album from Cassie Ramone features Ariel Pink on bass for several tracks and has a somewhat contemporary take on what a modern day Karen Dalton record may sound like.
First pressing of 300 copies.
Release date: August 26, 2014
Is Storm’s End a Game of Thrones reference? Also, are you all planning to announce any new concert dates soon? I would absolutely love to see you in Columbus, Ohio.
It is a Game of Thrones reference! When we made that song, I thought it sounded like an evil surf song, which would be perfect for the Ironborn.
Hey, thanks for coming out. Who is your musical inspiration? Do you have any non-musical inspirations?
I don’t know if I have ONE musical inspiration, but the first person that popped into my head was Jonathan Richman. As for my non-musical inspiration, I would say Marie Curie.
